Event Footage Examples
Sessions in the TED Talk Style
Ideally we film sessions with at least two camera operators, operating at least three camera angles:
- Static wide shot of the room and stage
- Medium tracking shot of the speaker
- Low-angle "hero shot" of the speaker
We can also add cameras to capture a wide shot from the side of the stage, and audience reaction shots.
In order to capture the wide and medium tracking shots of the stage with an unobstructed view, it is usually essential to have a riser in place directly opposite the stage.
For clear audio recordings, we coordinate with the venue's AV team in order to receive an audio feed from their sound system.
On-the-Spot Interviews
We generally film on-the-spot interviews with a single camera, but we can also use a two-camera setup.
Classic Interviews
For classic interviews, we generally use a two-camera setup, interview lighting, and a boom microphone for clear, natural-sounding audio recordings. We may also use a motorized slider to add motion to one of the shots.
Photojournal B-roll
Photojournal B-roll is ideal when we operate with a light footprint. Typically we film this type of B-roll handheld and/or with a monopod, and use a telephoto lens to capture tight shots of individuals and small groups.
Dynamic B-roll
Dynamic B-roll generally means using a gimbal for smooth, controlled motion shots that give the impression of moving through the space.
